Though outwardly Kajol remains calm and continues with her work, the actress is actually hurt badly over her father Shomu Mukherjee's death.
'Kajol has taken the death really badly. Her parents being separated, she didn't see as much of him during his lifetime as she would have liked to. I think there's a sense of guilt over his going. That perhaps she could've spent more time with him. Though she doesn't show it in public, Kajol is deeply wounded by the bereavement,' said a close friend.
Youngest son of Filmistan Studios founder Sashadhar Mukherjee, Shomu died on the eve of her 'U, Me Aur Hum' premiere. However, when asked about her father's demise, Kajol was a picture of strength.
Veteran filmmaker and father of actresses Kajol and Tanishaa and Tanuja’s ex-husband, Somdev Mukherjee (better known as Shomu Mukherjee) passed away in Mumbai, early Thursday morning. He was 65.
Son of Sashadhar Mukherjee, founder of Filmalaya Studios, Shomu was the youngest of the three siblings. While his brothers Deb and Joy went on to become actors, Shomu chose to pursue filmmaking and producing films. Some of his films include Sangdil Sanam and Ek Baar Muskura Do.
Shomu had been unwell for a while but was discharged from the hospital last week. His sudden death has come as a shock to the family since he had fully recovered. Shomu suffered from a cardiac arrest in sleep at 8:20 am.
For the past couple of months Kajol had been keeping a strict watch on his food and medication. According to reports, Kajol even stayed away from her family to spend time with her father in the hospital. Shomu used to lovingly call his elder daughter maa and took her advice on most issues.
Shomu’s son-in-law is popular film actor Ajay Devgan whose directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum opens in cinemas this Friday. Starring Ajay and Kajol the film is carrying extremely encouraging pre-release reports.

Karan Johar has been tom-tomming that he has signed SRK and Kajol for his next movie ‘I am Khan’ but K.JO has taken his friendship with Kajol a little bit for granted. Apparently the beautiful actress has not given the green signal to the project.
Kajol revealed, “I have been approached for this movie by Karan, but I haven’t signed it yet. The script is not ready as yet and I am waiting for a narration. Only then can I decide.”

Karan Johar is repeating his favorite and lucky couple SRK and Kajol in his upcoming movie. The movie is about Indian couple, and how their life changes after the 9/11 disaster. The movie was initially titled, as My Name is Khan, which was changed to Khan.
Karan Johar who had struck gold with his first movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which has SRK and Kajol in lead, repeated the couple in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and emerged as a winner again. Karan’s next flick will not be his regular family dramas and romantic type, as he is venturing in a different territory altogether.

You may ask, ‘with all the hype and publicity, does ‘U Me aur Hum’ live up to the expectations?’ The answer is ‘yes’.
I’m not going to tell you the entire story like other reviews, because it spoils the entire movie watching experience. Let me make it short. U Me aur Hum is about Pia(kajol), an Alzheimer’s patient, and the person who loves her the most Ajay(ajay devgan), her husband. It’s about the painful journey they go through, and how they live happily ever after. The movie is about love, trust and hope.
But ill tell some part of the story..
U Me aur Hum is a love story about Ajay (Ajay Devgan) who falls in love at first sight with Piya (Kajol) on a cruise. In the first half of the movie we see a typical Bollywood romance with Ajay wooing Piya. The second half becomes intense which shows that marriage is only successful when both husband and wife stand for each in their times of distress.
Ajay is psychiatrist who is on a vacation trip with is friends and their respective spouses (Karan Khanna, Sumeet Raghavan, Isha Sharvani and Divya Dutta). Piya (Kajol) is a waitress in the cruise bar and when Ajay spots Piya he falls head over heels in love with her. Piya a strong-headed girl rejects Ajay’s advances. But Ajay is so much smitten by Piya that he tries every trick to woo her which includes trespassing into her cabin and reading her personal diary: Book of Possibilities. Psychiatrist by profession he uses the right tactics to win Piya’s heart. Piya finally falls for him but when he confesses her about reading her diary and using it to get her all hell breaks loose and Ajay is left alone.
But destiny brings them back together again and this time they end up marrying. Marriage for Piya and Ajay is like heaven and soon they become an ideal husband and wife for their friends. But as everything good comes to an end their marriage life starts getting complicated and another nail in the coffin is Piya’s illness: ‘Alzheimer’. How Piya and Ajay save their marriage and love forms the rest of the story.
The story of the movie is told in a flashback by Ajay Devgan, which adds charm to the movie. Aswan Whir does justice to the U Me aur Hum by rendering witty humorous dialogues to thought-provoking ones with great finesse. Ajay Devgan is terrific both in front of the camera as well as back of it. Kajol is as always awesome in her performance as an Alzheimer suffering young lady and is a strong contender for this year’s best actress award. Supporting actors irritate you a bit and there is nothing much to write about them.
Now, the technical aspects and cast of the movie:
Director:Ajay Devgan makes a fine director. He shows the same level of intensity which we see in his acting. He joins the group of actors-turned-fine-directors.
Music: Vishal Bharadwaj’s music is too ordinary. Probably Ajay should have got some happening music director like Pritam or Shankar-Ehsan-Loy. Lyrics like ‘saheli jaisa sayyan’ make no sense.
Cinematography: This is one field I’m totally impressed. The cinematography can be compared to the best of Hollywood. The camera moves at such angles that it’s a delight to watch. Watch the way they have taken the ariel shots of the cruise.
Dialogues: Dialogues are excellent, but sometimes they get taxing, especially when they try too hard to rhyme. All that rhyming dialogues are good only if the movie has one or two, but U Me aur Hum has way too many.
Cast
Ajay Devgan: Ajav Devgan delivers a powerhouse performance. But something says to me that Shahrukh Khan would have done it better, because the role was tailor-made for him. By the way, I’m not saying that Ajay is bad.
Kajol: Everyone knows that Kajol is an excellent actress. She proves it yet again by delivering one of the best performances of her career. Playing Alzheimer’s patient is not an easy task, but Kajol makes it look so easy.
Among the supporting actors, the notable are Divya Dutta and Sumeet Raghavan. Karan Khanna, Isha Sharwani, Sachin Khedekar, Aditya Rajput and Hazel just fill up the cast.
U Me aur Hum will appeal to the younger audience, couples, couples soon to tie the knot and everybody else who is in love. The film has its share of drawbacks and mistakes but those can be forgiven ‘coz its Ajay’s first movie as a director. The movie will definitely force you and your better half to become HUM and make your relationship much better.
On the whole, U Me aur Hum is a good movie. Rating:

KAJOL AND AJAY IN BOLLYWOOD'S FIRST ANIMATED MOVIE
Ajay Devgan and his wife Kajol team up to stop a war between the animated characters. This will be the Bollywood’s first attempt to make a live action animation film. The couple will be sharing the screen with 50 animated characters in the film. The film is titled as ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’, which is being made on the lines of Hollywood films ‘Space Jam’ and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. The film is directed by Kireet Khurana. The director says that Ajay and Kajol will accidentally get transported into the world of cartoons who are engaged in a war against each other. Ajay and Kajol who enter the toon world will try to save the situation. The director says that although this technique has been used several times in Hollywood this is the first attempt made in Bollywood and he is hopeful that it will work.
